Participation Requirements
To
make this a successful and rewarding community garden, we will ask our members
to commit to the following rules. If a person or group using the plot does not
abide by these rules, the Greate Egg Harbor Township Historical Society
(GEHTHS) has the right to ask them to give up their membership in the garden.
1. Organic Gardening – All gardening
practices must be organic. Specifics available upon
request.
2. Types of Plantings – Only annual
vegetables, herbs and flowers.
3. Animals – Absolutely no pets
are allowed in the Community Garden or on the GEHTHS grounds.
4. Gardening Tools – No Gasoline or
Electric or Battery Powered Tools are permitted. Members are responsible for
their own garden tools. There is no onsite storage for garden supplies
5. Weeding – Gardens MUST be
maintained regularly throughout the entire growing season.
6. Monitoring the Garden – The GEHTHS will be
monitoring the garden. Community Garden members may file any complaints against
other members to the GEHTHS. A peer mediation group will be established
comprised of Community Garden Members.
7. Access – Members may access
their gardens during daylight hours only. March 1–October 31.
8. Children – Anyone under the age
of 18 must be accompanied by an adult garden member.
9. Restrooms – There are no public
restrooms available except when the museum is open – Saturday and Sunday
afternoons.
10. Community Garden
Membership
– There will be a $25 annual fee for each garden plot. This includes the usage
of one plot for one growing season, membership for one person to the GEHTHS
Museum, educational presentations, supplemental water, and other possible
needed supplies and interventions.
11. Clean Up – Members may be asked
to help clean up the paths between each garden will be responsible to help
close the garden at the end of the season.
